Training For Trail Running – Week Six Progress

Training For Trail Running – Week Six Progress

Time to Get Back to It

With my daughter Ella flying back to Australia this past week there were plenty of sad goodbyes. Having family and friends visiting is always a wonderful time but does tend to impact the training schedule.

Time to get back to some more structured weeks. Although my friend Jim is arriving at the end of the week this won’t be an issue as Jim is my running partner from Australia. Getting the work done should not be a problem at all and will in fact be a lot of fun catching up with him at the same time.

I did get some good threshold runs in but I didn’t get a speed session done. I will endeavour to start implementing a speed session from here on in.

Although the schedule was impacted from outside influences I was still able to achieve my biggest total kilometers and elevation for the year so far. Everything is still progressing forward at a good rate.

Looking Forward

Another area I will focus on in the coming weeks is my leg strength exercises as this has been lacking especially this past week. I have actually noticed a mild decline in how well my back was holding up so I really need to keep leg and buttock exercises up as a priority. I will endeavour to get back on track with this along with increasing my elevation and incorporating that speed session.

Happy Running,

Andrew.
